A toolbox in the cloud for IoT developers

The Bosch IoT Suite is the Bosch Group’s core software platform for IoT solutions. It provides the technological basis for applications in the Internet of Things (IoT).

The basis for creating a broad range of solutions and services

The Bosch IoT Suite is a set of cloud services and software packages for the development of IoT applications. It is available as Platform as a Service (PaaS) for developers, who can quickly build and implement cloud-based and highly scalable IoT applications.

The Bosch IoT Suite today connects more than 15 million devices.

Capabilities of Bosch IoT Suite

Bosch IoT Suite in a nutshell

Consists of several different software services that provide key middleware capabilities needed to build IoT applications from top to bottom.

Pre-configured packages relieve developers of much of the integration effort previously necessary.

A flexible IoT platform based on open source and industry standards.

Provides device management capabilities also for on-premise installations.

Device connectivity provided through a varied set of supported protocols and technologies.

Is available on global public clouds, such as Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, as well as the Bosch IoT Cloud.

The IoT is built on open source

At Bosch, we have been active participants in the open source community for over eight years and use open source software extensively in our Bosch IoT Suite. Since joining the Eclipse IoT community, we have created six different IoT open source projects and contributed to many other projects. Bosch has contributed around 1.5 million lines of code to the open source projects.

Eclipse Ditto is where IoT devices and their digital twins get together. This open source project provides the basis for Bosch IoT Things.

Eclipse hawkBit allows you to create a domain-independent backend solution for rolling out software updates. It is the open source core of Bosch IoT Rollouts.

Eclipse Hono™ builds the foundation of the Bosch IoT Hub. It provides remote service interfaces for connecting large numbers of IoT devices to a backend.

Eclipse Vorto allows you to describe the abstract capabilities and functionality of devices as Information Models. The Bosch IoT Suite leverages these models to normalize the payload of devices and expose it as semantic APIs to IoT solutions.

Eclipse Californium™ is a CoAP framework that targets back-end services communicating with smaller IoT devices. This specialized web transfer protocol is used within the Bosch IoT Hub.

Eclipse Leshan™ is a library implementing the Lightweight M2M protocol specified by the Open Mobile Alliance (OMA). It is leveraged by the Bosch IoT Hub.

EnMasse is an open source messaging platform used in the Bosch IoT Hub.
